POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a team oriented Assistant Salon Manager to join our growing team and assist in overseeing all salon operations. The Assistant Salon Manager will be responsible for fostering a collaborative team environment, identifying ways to increase salon revenue, providing coaching and feedback to staff, and building team engagement. This position will also be responsible for providing the Salon Manager with regular updates on necessary salon activities, salon staff coaching opportunities, and any salon issues or concerns. This individual should demonstrate strong leadership skills along with the ability to motivate a team and build staff engagement to help achieve salon goals. The Assistant Salon Manager will play a key role in helping to foster a team environment to achieve excellent customer service and ensure clients have an exceptional salon experience. This position reports directly to the Salon Manager.

OBJECTIVES

  • Provide timely coaching and feedback to salon staff to facilitate team development and follow up with Salon Manager on progress.
  • Provide leadership to the salon staff members and promote, support, and facilitate teamwork that fosters a positive environment.
  • Promote a culture of hospitality which nurtures client relationships and creates loyalty by addressing and resolving client complaints immediately and delivering a great experience for each client.
  • Motivate, inspire and build trust with the team to increase commitment, buy-in, retention, and staff engagement that creates a culture of accountability.
  • Assist with screening and interviewing candidates to ensure the salon is recruiting talented staff members that meet mandatory position requirements.
  • Communicate and implement company initiatives, policies, and procedures and effectively lead the team through necessary changes.
  • Mediate and diffuse any conflicts within the salon to realign team members with the goals of the organization.
  • Monitor salon supplies and equipment, replenish inventory when necessary to drive sales, and ensure the salon is clean and well-maintained at all times.
  • Support Salon Manager in coordinating work schedules for all salon staff to ensure workflow demands and sales targets are being met or exceeded, ensuring all shifts are covered where and when necessary.
  • Perform necessary steps to maintain working equipment when possible and monitor and follow up on facility and equipment issues through service requests and communication to minimize downtime.
  • Delegate responsibility as necessary and maintain follow-up for assessment of results.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Demonstrates extensive experience juggling multiple projects and recurring duties simultaneously while ensuring efficient completion of projects within target deadlines and with sharp attention to detail.
  • Possesses strong computer skills and highly proficient in MS Office Suite, Windows, Google Suite, and similar software programs.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training within the completion timeline.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional organization, administrative accountability, and great attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire the trust of others and work with integrity to uphold organizational values.
  • Ability to gather, analyze information, and resolve problems skillfully in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours or weekends as needed to support occasional special projects and urgent target deadlines and respond to texts, emails, and phone calls from team outside of standard office hours.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Business Management or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working in a salon required
  • 3+ years of experience in progressive leadership required 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged or intermittent periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods standing, walking, bending, or kneeling
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs at a time

Pay: $19-22 hourly DOE

On target earnings: $25-40 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shifts
  • 5 days per week
  • On call as necessary
